Pastoral Care at the End of Life

Tuesday, January 9
9:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00 – 3:00pm
This course will address the topic of death – it’s affect on people who are dying and on those who love them, with the goal of equipping God’s people to be effective in ministering to and preparing souls for death and eternity. The class will include a thorough consideration of God’s Word along with the sharing of practical lessons that are essential to meaningful pastoral care at the end of life.

Luther, Athens, and Geneva: The Right Place of Reason in Reformation Theology
Instructor: Dr. Jonathan Strand
Wednesday-Friday, January 10-12
9:30am-12:00pm and 1:00-3:30pm
The course will discuss the place of reason in Reformation Theology, exploring topics such as Luther and other reformers on reason, comparisons with other reformers and Roman Catholicism, recent understandings of reason, and how reason can be used more effectively to articulate and proclaim the gospel.

The Unfathomable Significance of the Song of the Sea

Readers of the Bible often underestimate the importance of the Song of the Sea (Moses and Miriam’s Song, Ex. 15:1-18) for understanding the rest of the Bible. This class will show the Song’s crucial role in laying out the central themes and central storyline of the Bible, which is key to understanding the Old Testament prophets and the ministry of Jesus the Messiah.
